History

Flowers & Plants etc opened its doors in September 1976 under the ownership of Bev and Arnold Krauss. A lifelong dream of Bev's, the store, which was a simple plant shop when they purchased it, was quickly transformed into a full service florist.

Bev's compassion for people, and love of flowers and design coupled with Arnold's keen business skills set the foundation for what Flowers & Plants etc has become today: a successful business with the highest standards and customer service.

Their son, Chip, joined them full time in 1987 after working for the business part time while growing up. He brought with him a savvy business style along with an extensive knowledge of plants and plant care. His wife, Sonya, joined the team in 1988. Together, they continue to preserve the fundamentals on which Flowers & Plants etc was founded.

Through the years, Flowers & Plants etc has grown to become a partnership of dedicated team members with exceptional standards and a passion for perfection.

Community involvement has always been important to Flowers & Plants etc. Participating in many local events, donations to many organizations and free classes are some of the many ways that they are involved. Flowers & Plants etc has sponsored a McLean Little League team each year since 1989. Driving their 1929 Model A delivery truck in the local parades is another activity that is loved by all, and occasionally, the old truck is seen making a surprise flower delivery.

Members of The Greater McLean Chamber of Commerce, The Better Business Bureau, and Society of American Florists, Flowers & Plants etc continues to stay abreast of business trends and technology in order to offer their excellent service and quality of product.
